Welcome! Glad you found our website. We are Stone Harbor Church and I am Johnny Potter, serving the church as pastor. We are a small non-denominational Christian church with a high view of Scripture, Jesus and His Church. You can find us meeting online Sundays at 10:15, except on the first Sunday of the month when we meet from house-to-house. Join us!

Food Bank for Monterey County -- The Food Bank for Monterey County is working to end hunger and transform the health of our community through good nutrition.
Monterey Salvation Army -- The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.
What We Are About -- We are all about personally and relationally knowing God better as He has revealed Himself in all the Scriptures from Genesis to Revelation and most ultimately and perfectly in the person of Jesus the Christ who has inaugurated the kingdom of God in His life, death, resurrection and the sending of His Spirit and who is Himself the fulfillment and epitome of all that God has promised. We rely on the necessary help of the Holy Spirit and seek to live in such a way that God would be glorified by our words and deeds as we seek to help others to know Him as He is.
What Inspired Our Name
Here are some of the Scriptures behind our name.
"Therefore thus says the Lord God, "Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone, a tested stone, A costly cornerstone for the foundation, firmly placed. He who believes in it will not be disturbed." Isaiah 28:16
"And coming to Him as to a living stone which has been rejected by men, but is choice and precious in the sight of God, you also as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house for a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ." 1 Peter 2:4-5
"So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and are of God's household, having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the cornerstone, in whom the whole building, being fitted together, is growing into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom you also are being built together into a dwelling of God in the Spirit." Ephesians 2:19-22
Our hope is that our congregation would be a harbor for many who would find here a place to be equipped and sent out, prepared and provisioned to accomplish God's purposes.
What We are Focused on Right Now During the Week in Our Devotions and on Sundays as We Gather for Worship
- We are considering the Gospel of Matthew using the CSB Connecting Scripture New Testament which seeks to bring forward Old Testament quotations, allusions and parallels used by New Testament writers. We are discovering that small and seemingly inconsequential references to Old Testament passages actually are intentionally tied by New Testament authors to large truths which significantly inform the meaning of their writings. Passing too quickly over New Testament references to Old Testament passages without carefully considering them separates us from necessary truths the writers of the New Testament meant their audience to consider. As modern readers we have to cross time, language and culture to understand what the original authors meant to communicate to the original readers. We are seeking to do just that in our study of Matthew. Further, having apprehended the meaning of each passage with the help of the above mentioned resource, we are seeking to travel with that meaning in mind beyond the meaning alone, pursuing the related significance, implications, memorization, integration, practice, transformation to which God would have the meaning of each passage lead us. All this is being done unto the ultimate end that through such careful consideration we would glorify God by truly knowing Him and making Him known as He has disclosed Himself in Christ as recorded in the Scripture which speaks of Him.
