Building Up in Christ, Reaching Out in Love

for you are all one in Christ Jesus."

What We Are All About -- We are all about personally and relationally knowing God better as He has revealed Himself in all the Scriptures from Genesis to Revelation and most ultimately and perfectly in the person of Jesus the Christ who has inaugurated the kingdom of God in His life, death, resurrection and the sending of His Spirit and who is Himself the fulfillment and epitome of all that God has promised. We rely on the necessary help of the Holy Spirit and seek to live in such a way that God would be glorified by our words and deeds as we seek to help others to know Him as He is.
What Inspired Our Name
Here are some of the Scriptures behind our name.
"Therefore thus says the Lord God, "Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone, a tested stone, A costly cornerstone for the foundation, firmly placed. He who believes in it will not be disturbed." Isaiah 28:16
"And coming to Him as to a living stone which has been rejected by men, but is choice and precious in the sight of God, you also as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house for a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ." 1 Peter 2:4-5
"So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and are of God's household, having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the cornerstone, in whom the whole building, being fitted together, is growing into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom you also are being built together into a dwelling of God in the Spirit." Ephesians 2:19-22
Our hope is that our congregation would be a harbor for many who would find here a place to be equipped and sent out, prepared and provisioned to accomplish God's purposes.
What we are up to right now? Currently, on Sunday's we are looking at the Letter to the Hebrews.

No Place for Any Form of Racism in the Church
Sadly, in the world there remains sickness, inequity, poverty, perceived inequality, racism... and many other evils. It was to remedy all corruption of God’s good creation that God Himself broke into the brokenness of our fallen world in the person of Jesus Christ to rescue us and set things right.
God has already, by means of Christ, secured the reconciliation of all people to Himself. Whatever our color or ethnicity of birth, He has remade all who are in Christ into one unified people where the color of our skin has no relevance and indicates no special treatment from God or man. This is the Gospel, that humanity suffered corruption, evil and estrangement from God, but now in Christ God has reconciled us; and He has reconciled us not only to Himself, but to each other as well.
In the Church, even now there are no gradations of blessedness dispensed differently upon different types of people. Not one of us is more important to God than any other. Not one of us is more loved by God than any other. All God’s children are equally the objects of His perfect love, value and privilege.
Let us therefore celebrate our existing diversity while recognizing and working for God’s ultimate goal of seeing all humanity restored to Him as His children -- His equally loved, equally important, equally privileged, equally worthy... children, who not only are in a good and right relationship with God according to His design, but who are also in a good and restored relationships with one another as well, also according to His design.
What God will bring to consummate fullness in the future -- a restored creation with no evil -- the Church must work for even now. We work for social justice now recognizing that God has already brought it to be in the Church which is the human manifestation of the New Creation Kingdom of God He promised in all the Scriptures. The resurrected Jesus is Lord of this already inaugurated kingdom, and God promised in the Scriptures that He will one day bring about perfect righteousness fully realized for all of His creation.
There is no place for racism or hatred in the Church, not now and not ever. There is only room for equality and love in the Church, now and forever. What God has done for the Church in Christ Jesus now in the spiritual aspects of our lives, He has promised to do fully for all of creation in every aspect. “Heaven”, where no evil exists, has broken into earth where all manner of evil still remains. And the Scriptures speak of the future when God will make what is now in part and in the process of transformation, full and complete -- a consummately realized new creation without evil. Further, Jesus has taught His disciples to pray to God among other things saying, “Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.”
In heaven there is no injustice, no racism, no hatred, no evil, no death… only life set right by God.
Here are a few of the Scriptures that speak of these things (cited from the New American Standard Bible):
Galatians 3:28 -- “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.”
2 Cor 5:16-16 -- 16 Therefore from now on we recognize no one according to the flesh; even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him in this way no longer. 17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.
Ephesians 2:11-22 -- 11 Therefore remember that formerly you, the Gentiles in the flesh, who are called “Uncircumcision” by the so-called “Circumcision,” which is performed in the flesh by human hands— 12 remember that
at that time separate from Christ, excluded from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world.
13 But now in Christ Jesus you who formerly were far off
have been brought near by the blood of Christ. 14 For He Himself is our peace, who made both groups into one and broke down the barrier of the dividing wall, 15 by abolishing in His flesh the enmity, which is the Law of commandments contained in ordinances, so that in Himself He might make the two into one new man, thus establishing peace, 16 and might reconcile them both in one body to God through the cross, by it having put to death the enmity. 17 And He came and preached peace to you who were far away, and peace to those who were near; 18 for through Him we both have our access in one Spirit to the Father. 19 So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and are of God’s household, 20 having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the corner stone, 21 in whom the whole building, being fitted together, is growing into a holy temple in the Lord, 22 in whom you also are being built together into a dwelling of God in the Spirit.
Revelations 21:1-7 -- 1 Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and there is no longer any sea. 2 And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, made ready as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them, 4 and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.” 5 And He who sits on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” And He *said, “Write, for these words are faithful and true.” 6 Then He said to me, “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give to the one who thirsts from the spring of the water of life without cost. 7 He who overcomes will inherit these things, and I will be his God and he will be My son.
Lord God, may Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven!
